Fish Soup Favourite

I never thought I'll get tired of pork but I am. Suddenly when you're surrounded by it here in Singapore it doesn't seem as appealing anymore. And I can't seem to find my favourite pork noodles that I used to get in KL. Ironically, I've actually been eating more fish here when I eat out. Maybe because its easy to get nice fish as opposed to the river fish KL hawkers prefer using. Fish soup is currently my absolute favourite and I think I'm going to eat it for dinner again tonight! Small things to look forward to after a long day at work...

Internet Business

Starting an internet business is just as challenging as a physical one. You need to ensure you have the right skills to design a good website, use a good seo tool so your website can be found and know how to market your site to get maximum visitors and traffic. However, the costs of setting up an internet business can be significantly cheaper than doing a physical one. It is also a lot more flexible as you can do it any time and anywhere in the world. Maybe its time to seriously look into an alternative source of income through the web again!

Fitting A Huge TV

When we bought our huge 42 inch TV, we never thought that one day we'll be living in a place that's half or less than half of our previous place in KL! They say you can never plan perfectly and that is exactly what happened for us when we moved down to Singapore and ended up in a flat that's tiny! DH spent most of last Sunday fixing up the wires and TV and finally, we have a huge monster sitting in our tiny living room! Just need to get some antenna wires and I think we're good to go. Now, just to make sure we don't go blind watching such a huge screen from such a close distance!

Expensive Not Always Best

Do you think the best face cream is always measured by how much it costs? Well I certainly do not think so. I was previously once sold by a popular Japanese face cream that was terribly expensive but promised clear and glowing skin. Unfortunately, the cream was too rich for me and broke out my skin! Imagine the pains of having to deal with acne breakouts and having to fork out money for an expensive face cream! Now I tend to approach any best face cream claims with much caution. Would you spend thousands on any face cream?

On The Move

We haven't had a weekend off since one and a half months ago. Every weekend has been spent moving things from one place to another, clearing and cleaning of sorts! We just did our final move last weekend in Singapore, after we moved several things down by bags and by bus from KL! Spent most of Sunday evening clearing up the new place we'll be staying in and setting things in order. Thankfully most of it is almost done and now its just a matter of settling in. Hopefully we can do that this weekend and get to know the area a little bit better.

Not a Pet Lover

Some people I've met are really surprised when I tell them I don't really like pets especially since DH is a vet! I know many have told me that having a pet brings lots of joy into your life, gives you something to come home to and its definitely ego boosting to have something that thinks you are its life! However, I personally do not like mess and cannot imagine having to deal with the mess a pet brings, the maintenance you need to upkeep such as feeding them, cleaning them and any pet beds or toys these pampered pets might have! So while I grouse about the tiny space we're living in now, at least its a good excuse not to have a pet!

Waiting Up

It was such a tiring night last night. I wanted to sleep earlier last night but we got held up clearing up our new place and making it a little more like a home. We then came back and I mistakenly thought that the coach bookings I was waiting for will be open at midnight. I was wrong..its only opening tonight! So I'll need to stay up one more night tonight just to ensure I can get my tickets back during the next long weekend. The speed at which they sell out is just too fast!

Lucrative Insurance

Selling insurance seems to be a highly lucrative thing nowadays. I've had friends who have given up their careers in the corporate world to pursue a self-business venture in insurance, new insurance blogs online promoting all kinds of insurance and insurance agents constantly harrassing me. I guess insurance sells by emphasizing the uncertainty of life and encouraging people to prepare for their loved ones in any unfortunate event. Perhaps I should seriously consider doing a part time job in that too!

Rising Costs

Everything costs more these days, from property to food and transportation. Even dying isn't cheap anymore with some private hospitals charging up to $8,000 per day just for some specialist treatment in a private room. Imagine what the funeral costs can come up to! Specialist funeral companies such as Nirvana handle most things for you but present you with a 5-figure bill after that. Is it no wonder then that the aged have actually started preparing for their own funerals through saving a little every month?!

Going To KL

We're going back to KL this coming Thurs night as Friday is a public holiday here. This will be my first time back since moving here a month ago and I can't wait! There's lots to do at home as well with some stuff left in our house and the cleaners coming in on Sat to clean up the place before I put it up for rent. Looks like its going to be a busy weekend ahead! We've already filled most of Friday with all kinds of appointments!

Hassle of Home Insurance

Although SG is said to be a safer place compared to Malaysia, I still read and hear of crime cases. In fact, DH's cousin's place actually got broken into once with his passports stolen. There is no one safe place in this world and I'm beginning to wonder if we should sign up for some home insurance packages to ensure our belongings are reimbursed if stolen. However, it can be quite a pain to go round categorising everything in the house in the inventory list. Then again, no pain no gain!

Moving Day

We had the movers in last weekend and the place was complete mayhem! I was trying to coordinate all 80 boxes we had and find places for them to be placed. Finally when they left, I spent another 3 hours trying to keep things and find homes for the many odds and ends we have. We're going back there again tonight to try to restore some order to the place. I find that's where both DH's and my characters differ. He's all about procrastination and doing things slowly whilst I would like things all in place by the time I move in. Definitely ingredients for a fight! :P

Health Treatments

I've very used to seeing weight loss products advertisements in our newspapers back in Malaysia. However when I came down to Singapore, I was surprised to see that the newspapers here focused more on bust enhancement products and treatments instead! Perhaps their women here are slimmer and healthier from all the walking and love of exercise that they have and they are encouraged to seek treatments for other parts of their body instead!

Exercise Lovers

I've noticed that Singaporeans are, in general, a very healthy lot. They seem to enjoy running and walking and make full use of the parks available around the city. Almost every night I see both locals and foreigners alike running along the roads to get their daily exercise fix. I wonder if they ever take performance enhancing drugs such as no xplode bsn to fuel their energy needs but I am truly impressed by their stamina and dedication to exercise!

Dangerous Side Effects

Have you heard of the product called differin which is said to be very effective in fighting acne? I was a little tempted to try it but wasn't sure if it might come with dangerous side effects. I've heard that some of these acne drugs can actually be quite harmful if you are planning to have a child or are expecting. So it will be wise to actually research and read up more on any drug before trying them.

Fat Burning

Burning fat is on everyone's minds right now. I've been getting lots of fat burning advertisements in my emails and one of the top ones I've been seeing is from bestfatburners.org who promote quick solutions for fat burning. It said that you can see guaranteed results in just two weeks! Do you think something that works so fast is good for you? I don't think it can be very good for your health if something works so quickly!

Best Acne Treatment in KL

My skin has improved tremendously since I went to the famous dermatologist in KL. My skin cleared up just after one visit and it has stabilised since with no more breakouts. So now if I have friends asking me where the best acne treatment is in KL, I know exactly where to recommend them to now! Just be sure you can stomach the long queues just to see the famous doctor!

Waiting for GSS

Two weekends ago, sis and some friends were down here for a weekend of fun and shopping. We went to the shopping malls but sadly most weren't on sale. I spotted a pair of really nice Cole Haan shoes that were incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately it cost an arm and a leg! Hopefully it goes on sale during the mid-year Great Singapore Sale and there are sizes left too!

Controlling Spending

I was left puzzling over an RM25 charge on my company credit card just before I cancelled it. I was very sure that I had not incurred any expenses on it recently and in the end, filed a dispute form. Turns out that this charge was the Government's charge for credit card holders as a way to curb overspending on credit cards! It wasn't even tied to credit card processing charges! Ours must be the only country where the Government tries to control spending!

Improving Economy

Last year was a bad year worldwide. People were losing jobs and being laid off almost everyday. However, this year seems a little more optimistic with job recruitment advertisements starting to appear again like the city of philadelphia jobs ads I recently saw online. Hopefully the world economy will improve.

Camera Repairs

I have an Olympus camera that recently spoilt when some water got on it. I'm now wondering if I should throw it away as the hubs recently bought me a DSLR. I did pack it up to be thrown away but my mom suggested trying to repair it or at least salvage the micro sd card inside in case it can be used on a different camera. I think the SD card should fit but I think the cost of repairing might not be worth while.

Year Flying By

In a blink of an eye, we're already heading into the 3rd month of 2010! Have you accomplished what you have hoped to accomplish? Well, if you haven't, now is a good time to start! Also, start looking for your Mother's Day gifts early to beat the crowds at the mall who are all hunting for the best mothers day gifts. This year, why not do something different like cook a home cooked meal or enjoy a day out with that special woman in your life? She'll appreciate it a lot more than an expensive gift!

Chinese New Year Over

Chinese New Year is over and my holidas have gone by in a wink of an eye! Boohoo...with Chinese New Year comes the Chinese New Year weight gain too and the whole process to lose weight in the next few months! Its a never ending cycle! But it was really good while it lasted!

Thin Hair Woes

I've had thin hair all my life. It never grew from the flat baby hair I used to have and I have always admired people who hve hair with body. I've tried all kinds of shampoo for thin hair including some recently advertised Dove shampoo which promised to give body and lift to my hair. But all it gave me was just more dropping hair! Sigh, looks like I'm destined to live with my thin hair!

Spamming Messages

I've recently been receiving a lot of spam in my handphone and emails. It can really be very irritating especially since my phone beeps continuously each time I receive but do not check a message. I believe these companies must obtain our numbers from he many free web directory services available. I've heard that information nowadays can be bought for as little as 10 cents!

Young and Beautiful

I've been seeing lots of anti aging face cream products in the market recently. Almost every advertiement targets anti-aging and anti-wrinkle and women everywhere certainly believe in them, judging from the reviews I've been reading. I'm guessing that I'll have to start investing in some anti aging face cream myself in a few more years! All women want to look young and beautiful for as long as they possibly can!

Stress Causes Hair Loss

Is hair loss common amongst women? I recently experienced quite a bit of hair loss. I thought it was due to my long hair and cut it shorter. I even tried female pattern hair loss therapies but my hair still continued to drop by the handfuls everytime I took a shower. My hairdresser told me the hair loss is probably due to stress! Maybe I should stop buying hair loss treatment products and book myself a relaxing holiday instead!

Buying Insurance Online

You know you've crossed into adulthood when you constantly have to think about insurance and how to protect your loved ones should anything unfortunate happen to you. I've recently had to pay my annual premium and although it is steep, it is nevertheless pretty important for my older years. I did some online research on http://www.wholesaleinsurance.net to check for cheaper premiums but have a bit of reservations about buying insurance online. Would you do it?

Swanky Cars

I was out at Bangsar yesterday and noticed that SUVs seem to be the way to go today. Gone are the sporty sedans driven around by expatriates. In its place are stylish brand new SUVs which I believe cost a whole lot more than most sedans. Hopefully it stops at SUVs and doesn't go beyond that into RVs. I can't imagine huge RVs trundling around even if cheap rv financing is available!

Allergy Treatments

My husband's poor niece suffers from bad allergies. She is allergic to most seafood and even milk which means most foods are off-limits for her. Her parents have been trying all kinds of allergy relief to help her live a more normal and comfortable life but it does not seem to be helping her much. Its a little scary how allergies are so common in our everyday life now. It must be all the pollution and food we eat.

New Year Resolutions

Its the New Year once again and as usual lots of New Year resolutions will be made, especially losing weight. However, not many end up keeping their New Year resolutions and more often than not, people end up breaking their resolutions after a few months. If your resolution is to lose some weight, remember that it is always better to get proper diets that work instead of eating diet pills.

Internet Research

Its surprising to know how few people know how to use the internet for information. I was just speaking to a colleague today and learnt that she didn't really know how to use the internet at all, even for looking for things! Honestly, I don't think I can live without the internet! I would much prefer looking for something online than in a physical web directory! I think I've even forgotten how to use a telephone directory! Which do you prefer?

Pesky Salesmen

Recently I've noticed a high number of sales people coming to bug you during your lunch. I was recently disturbed during my lunch by someone selling some nutrisystem products that were supposed to be good for you. He even offered lots of positive nutrisystem reviews from supposed customers. These sales people should know that disturbing people during their lunch hour or while they are enjoying a meal isn't exactly the best way to make some good sales!

Pain Relief

I happened to be driving downtown the other day and was surprised to see a hemorrhoids doctor's clinic promising hemorrhoid pain relief to those who suffer from it. I wasn't aware that any doctors specialised in something so specific as hemorrhoids! However, it is certainly welcome news for hemorrhoid sufferers as it is apparently very painful and in some serious cases could even cause complications. One of the best ways to prevent it is to drink lots of water, ensure you eat lots of high fibre foods and do some light exercises.

Living With Acne Scars

I was unfortunate to have bad skin when I was a teenager which led to many acne scars. I've been recommended many things for the scars from Vitamin E oil to some of the best acne scar cream around. However, my scars still remain although they may have flattened a little. Short of doing some sort of cosmetic or laser surgery, there isn't a real cure for acne scars so I guess I'll just have to live with them!

Selling Cars

I recently sold my car just before my car insurance was due. Although I did not get quite the price I wanted, I was still nevertheless relieved that I now did not have to spend time hunting for the cheapest car insurance rates in town as my car insurance was just falling due the week after I sold it. I'll miss my little car though...it was no luxury car but it served me really well!

RV Repair Work

The recent interest in RV vehicles has sparked off a whole new business for those specialising in rv repair work. I recently saw a few workshops around our area which have sprung up. I've never been in an RV so I can't imagine if it is any different from a normal car. However, I would think some special skills might be required for those who specialise in this.

Two Jobs

My transfer finally got approved although most of the nitty gritty terms are still pending. It is a huge relief as it has saved me a lot of time and trouble going through the recruitment agencies and newspapers for finance job search opportunities. Now all that remains is to clear up my work at this end and try to learn as much as I can on the other end! I can't believe I'm working two jobs at year end when most people are already winding down!

What are Exam Tables?

Do you know what exam tables are? I've sat for countless exams since I was young but have never heard of exam tables! Is it something you can actually bring into your exam or is it something totally unrelated to studies?! Do let me know if you know what it is!

Designer Furniture

Do you like designer lighting such as Arco and Dolan Designs? I do especially when they are quirky pieces that add charm to a stark living room. I've been recently seeing a very popular design that seems to be in fashion today with a hanging lamp. I think I'm going to start looking at buying contemporary type pieces from now on instead of the cookie cutter type furnishings!

Cigar Tradition

I'm really adverse to smokers so I never understood the tradition of handing out Black and Mild cigars at the birth of a baby! One would think that a hospital would be the last place which allows you to smoke. I guess the tradition came about as a form of celebration especially since cigars are expensive to start with. Nevertheless, I'm sure there are better and healthier ways to celebrate the joyous occasion a baby's birth brings!

Car Spring Cleaning

When I recently sold my car, I was a little surprised when all my accumulated junk in there only filled up one small paper bag! I didn't realise how empty my car was considering I had been using it for over 3 years already. Luckily I did not fill it up with too many auto accessories or personal stuff otherwise imagine the headache involved in clearing it out and ensuring that everything is removed before it goes to the next owner!

Techie Christmas Gift Ideas

I went to work recently and saw my colleague using a really cute mouse pad. It had a picture of a mouse on it running around on a pad of cheese which was just too cute for words! Just the thing to brighten up a dreary Monday morning. If you're looking for great Christmas ideas, do consider getting one of these custom mouse pads. They'll make a great gift especially for tech-lovers!

Food Galore

When I was down in Singapore I noticed that their newspapers were full of slimming and health advertisements. Every other page featured some company or another offering best weight loss products or treatments to help a weight obsesssed country. Ironically, everywhere you turn, there's always food galore at every street corner. With all those temptations, luckily one needs to walk a lot there. Hopefully it helps to burn off some fat!

Laptop Crashed

My office laptop just crashed! Just when I had tonnes of work to finish off! Worse, most of the work I was doing was saved on my personal disk space which I have no access to when using another laptop. I should have gotten a Corporate usb drive to try to save my work on but its now too late. Hopefully the IT can resolve it quickly on Monday.

Shopping For Insurance

How much insurance does one really need? I've been searching around for affordable term life insurance quotes but have not been able to find any good quotes. I've been told that insurance quotes increase with each passing year of your age perhaps that's why I have not been able to find any cheap insurance quotes. Do you have any you would like to recommend?

Splurging on Sandals

I splurged quite a bit last weekend :) Bought a pair of Fitflop sandals that I had been eyeing for a while already. It costed me a pretty bomb and several weeks ago I would have flinched at having to pay so much for just a pair of sandals. I even put back a pair of funky Naot sandals because they were hundred plus and now I spent double of that on my Fitflops! :p Oh well, they say shopping is a woman's best friend and I certainly need some fun in my life after all the other stuff that's been going on!

Medical Insurance When Traveling

Have you ever purchased medical insurance when you travel? I've always wondered how important and necessary it is but sometimes things are really unpredictable and you don't really want to be slapped with a huge hospital bill when you're lying in a foreign hospital. So, I guess its good to consider travel medical insurance if you're planning a long two-week trip, just to be on the safe side. After all, the premiums are usually quite affordable.

Weight Loss Tips Wanted

I was unable to attend my yoga class last week as I had to work late. I've been so busy that exercise and good eating habits have been the furthest thing from my mind and I'm unfortunately paying for that now with some weight gain and a jelly belly! Sigh! If only there was a quick and easy way to lose belly fat! Any good methods to recommend?

Men in Suits

I have to say that I have a weak spot for men in suits or tuxedos. I recall attending a formal function once in my previous job where the men were mainly clad in tuxedo shirts complete with bow ties and dinner jackets. I have to say that I was certainly blown away by how they looked! :) However, unless you have lots of functions to attend, it might be a waste splurging lots of money on a nice tuxedo only to have it sit in your wardrobe!

Clarins Facial

I recently tried the Clarins facial and came away rather impressed with their skin analysis. They don't use any high tech machines to analyse your skin but use just their bare hands! I was also pleased when the beautician told me that I don't really need wrinkle cream at the moment, just more of hydrating products. I'll definitely be trying their facials again...it gave me nice and glowing skin after that.

Clearing Email Box

I was trying to clear my email box before the long weekend next week. Our online storage for our emails are only 5MB which gets filled up so quickly with all kinds of email messages and attachments and once its full emails will actually stop getting sent to us. I wish there was a way IT would increase our email storage facility but they seem really reluctant to do so. Time to start deleting those mails!

Accessorising Your Car

What do you think of people who put a lot of car accessories on your car? I don't know about you but I tend not to like them. To me, if you want your car to look like a sports car, save up to buy a sports car instead of adding all kinds of modifications to a normal car! Those modifications are not only expensive but can render your car dangerous as you are changing the original design, alignment and weight so I definitely wouldn't advise it!

Pressure To Be Slim

I met up with a friend for dinner two nights ago. We had a really wonderful time catching up and chatting. I've always enjoyed dinners with this friend but that night I noticed that she was not eating much. When I probed, she admitted that she thought she should be going on a diet and asked if I knew of any best weight loss supplement she could consider. I was a little surprised as although she's put on some weight, she's still very slim. Hopefully she doesn't lose too much weight as too thin people tend to look older. The pressure women have to stay slim!

Technology Boom

I've been using a really simple basic phone for a while already. It pretty much just allows me to make messages and calls. What a far cry I've come from my techy impressive phone I used to have! I was recently admiring a friend's Samsung phone and gosh, I realised that I didn't even know how to use it! I can't keep up with technology anymore! :P

Strange Coding System

I really wonder how the barcode system works at times. I bought some fruits from the grocer the other day which were individually coded. Although they were all the same fruit, they had different codings. Some were tagged Symbol LS2208 while others had a different symbol on it. It would probably make more sense to tag them with all the same codes to avoid errors!

Cleaning Inside Out

I was reading a beauty magazine the other day and saw an advertisement for a colon cleanse company. I used to read about how Princess Diana used these methods to keep herself slim and detoxified. However, I'm not sure if I can put myself through the same way. It does seem rather radical and I'm not sure if it is good for your body in the long run.

Dying Technology

I was recently at an event and noticed someone using a camcorder to record the event. That got me rather curious as I have not seen people using camcorders in a while already. Everyone seems to be using high tech digital cameras that double up as video recorders so I thought camcorders were a dying technology! Have you noticed anyone using camcorders recently?

Amazon's Shipping Ban

Have you ever tried shipping from Amazon? I heard that they didn't use to ship to Malaysia which was why I stopped considering them as an online seller. However, a friend who recently bought from them was happy with her order fulfillment despite being in Malaysia. Does anyone know if they have changed their shipping ban to Malaysia?

Happy Kids

Every mother has high hopes for their children. Some hope for their children to grow up to be brilliant doctors who discover the cure for Mesothelioma cancer or an engineer to build the biggest and highest bridges in the world. Someday if I have a kid of my own, I think I'll probably be as ambitious as all these mothers! No mother ever really wants her child to fail in life but yet they want them to be happy. I wonder if such a balance can be struck.

Diet Pills At Slimming Centres

I recently went for a free trial at a slimming centre and had to endure the worst insults in their attempt to get me to sign up for a slimming package with them! During my experience there, I was surprised to see them prescribing a fat burner pill to a client. I thought that slimming centres relied mostly on machines to help you lose your unwanted pounds not medication! It was truly an eye-opener!

Trying Diet Pills

Sometimes you get the strangest comments on blogs. Someone contacted me via my blog last week to ask if I would write about phenphedrine reviews if they sent me a sample. I was a little hesitant as I am rather wary about eating diet pills, having heard too much about their side effects. A famous Singapore actress actually had to have a liver transplant due to poisoning caused by slimming pills! Would you dare try it out?

Buying Shoes

I love shoes but recently I have been on a bit of a shopping ban in an attempt to save some money. So it did not help at all when my colleague told me about this really nice pair of Dansko shoes she saw on sale! And it has to happen in a month where I'm sadly dry and where my shoes are falling apart too! Should I or should I not?

Wet Camera

I went for a little excursion today and unfortunately I forgot that my camera isn't waterproof! It actually got dipped in the water and now I'm worried it can't work well anymore. My latest attempt to take a photo using it just resulted in some blurry images! :( I wonder if it's time to start saving up for a new camera, preferably one with compact flash memory and built in additional memory. Anyone got any good brands to recommend?

Time Off Needed

I've been feeling terribly swamped at work and am down with the flu. Its funny but my recent leave in April, just 2 months ago already seems to be light years ago! Isn't it a terrible feeling when you just need some Vegas vacations and time away from work but can't have it due to work commitments? It really sucks!

Novelty beds

We were supposed to buy a new bed after we moved in but I guess with all the settling down, that priority seems to have become less important as we get by with the current bed. I have been noticing lots of bed sales in the papers though for all kinds of novelty and funky beds including a sleep number bed or circular waterbed! I wonder how people sleep on those comfortably!

Grocery Fun

I enjoy grocery shopping and I never failed to be thrilled by the barcode scanners that are installed in the supermarket. Its pretty exciting, for me at least, to pick up an item and scan it to see what the price is! I guess I get my kicks out of the strangest things!

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Best Diet Pills?

What do you think are the best diet pills on the market at the moment? My colleague recently asked me that and I was unable to answer her as I had no clue! To me, diet pills are not exactly the best way to lose weight as they may come with some dangerous side effects. They are also not cheap and I told her she might be better off exercising instead. Hopefully she takes my advice!

Precious Collections

We tend to throw away things each time we spring-clean our houses. However, did you know that some collections can actually bring you money? I recall a friend whose old uncle used to keep a huge collection of silver coin from all types of countries. When he passed away, the family cleared the house and out of interest decided to send those coins for valuation. They were shocked to know that the coins were actually worth a tidy sum today! Especially since precious metals prices have been on the upward trend! So next time do think carefully before you throw out your collections!

Sale But No Sales

Everywhere seems to be screaming sale! I was at training in town for the past 3 days and almost everywhere had banners proclaiming sales of all kinds. However, the stores still seem mostly empty and I believe despite the cheaper prices, people are just buying less to save their money.

Keeping Your Job

In my previous company, I used to have an IT person who would be sleeping most of the day in the dark and air-conditioned server room! He was so incompetent that he couldn't answer most of our questions including how to download cad drawing tools when the engineers had to perform some work. Sometimes I really wonder how people get to keep their jobs in this current competitive economy!

Living Healthily

It is a scary world we live in today. There are all kinds of terminal diseases that crop up everywhere nowadays, even in young children. It seems like everything we eat or use now have potential to cause cancer such as mesothelioma or other worse terminal diseases. It does make you wonder how best we can live and have a healthy life.

Creating Space

One problem about moving into an apartment is the space constraint. I have been moving my stuff around in the storeroom to try to create more space and to avoid it looking so messy. If only we had some self storage units in the basement like my parents' condo. It will definitely create lots of additional storage space to store items that are not used often.

Suitable Wedding Gift

We've been cracking our heads to come up with a suitable present for a friend who's about to get married. Some friends suggested getting her some sexy lingerie for her honeymoon and wedding night but it does seem like a strange gift. I remember feeling rather odd when I received something like that from a wedding guest! Do you think its a suitable gift?

Barcoding

I never cease to be amazed by the amount of information contained in a barcode. One of the stuff I like to do while shopping is to pick up an item and take it to the barcode scanner just to see how much it costs! It always thrills me! Do you get kicks like these out of shopping too?

Gifts For A Sports Fan

I have a birthday party for a sports-mad friend coming up. This friend is so into football that he will consider buying a plane ticket to UK just to watch his favourite team play! I've been looking out for some sports gear to buy for his birthday and have been trying to decide between Football or Soccer. Thanks to the internet, I discovered a great new shopping experience at ShopWiki where I can find all kinds of sporting stuff from Volleyball to even Cheerleading requirements! Its your one-stop centre for everything sporty! Do check it out!

Sales on Rings

I recently saw some sales on engagement rings in the shopping centre. I think times are tough and hence retailers have started dropping their prices in a bid to get more sales. If you are shopping for an engagement diamond ring, now is a great time to be looking out for good deals!

Losing Weight Naturally

I thought I have been putting on weight but this morning, when I tried on my skirt that used to feel a little tight, I found that I managed to put it on quite easily. Could I have lost some weight? I certainly hope so because I don't want to resort to eating weight loss pills to lose unwanted pounds!

New Cinema Opening

I heard that a new cinema will be opening in a mall near where I leave. It is apparently quite a high end cinema wil Berkline seats flown in specially from the US to ensure total comfort while watching your movie! I wonder how much tickets will cost!

Annual Auto Insurance Renewal

Do you do your own auto insurance renewal? I usually get the help of a runner to do the necessary administration for me due to my office work hours. However, I do make sure I ask the correct auto insurance questions including the various types of additional insurances I can add on to my policy to ensure that I am always protected. You should too!

Vacation Homes

We're trying to plan a family trip and gosh, I never realised it was so hard to find accommodation for 6 people! Hotels will definitely cost too much so we decided to look for vacation homes for short term rental like Outer Banks homes or private owned apartments. Hopefully something turns up soon!

All kinds of Lawyers

I was watching a US legal programme recently. It featured the various types of lawyers you can access in the US and the range they have there is mind-boggling! From Seattle injury lawyer to lawyers specialising in DUI cases, they seem to have every area covered! No wonder everyone wants to be a lawyer!

Franchising Opportunities

Lots of people are looking for alternative sources of income in this recent economic downturn. I was googling the Krispy Kreme franchise once and was shocked to see how stringent they were. They required at least US$1 million to purchase their franchises and strong F&B experience. Looks like there's not much chance in me owning a Krispy Kreme business anytime soon!

Dieting Naturally

I heard a new diet pill is out on the market which is non harmful and very effective in assisting with weight loss. I am not sure of their medical claims but I think I would prefer trying to lose weight the natural way instead of resorting to chemicals.

CNY Feasting

Chinese New Year is just around the corner! Lots of good food and great fun with friends and family! However, it is often a time of overindulgence as people enjoy their festive delicacies. So do watch what you eat instead of resorting to diet pills after that!

Wedding Invitation Cards

When planning my wedding, I was surprised to see how expensive wedding invitations can cost. Some places had gorgeous cards but they were going for more then $3 a card which seemed a little ridiculous despite the beauty as most guests would end up throwing it away. In the end, we opted to handmake ours to save costs and was truly happy with the results! Hopefully our guests were too!

Getaway to Branson

I recently read an interesting article about what people are cutting back on during the economic crisis and was surprised to see that many still place importance on their holidays. In fact, a friend is planning a trip to Branson, Missouri in the next few months with her family. I was curious as to why she was going there as I hadn't heard much of this place and was surprised to know that it was a fantastic family getaway. Branson has a theme park available called the Silver Dollar City which is guaranteed to bring much joy to children and adults plus lots of other fun activities such as museums, water rides and the ever popular shopping at its range of factory outlets. There is a whole host of accommodation available ranging from 5-star luxury hotels to comfortable family suites at their many hotels. It definitely sounds like a great place and somewhere I should consider in the future!

Burning Candles

When I walk around Ikea, I often notice lots of people around their candle section. People often seem to be buying lots of tea lights and pillar candles and I've always wondered what they use them for unless they are planning a party. To me, it's a little messy to light them around the house and I have some concerns about the chemicals those candles will be emitting as they burn.

Crisis Opportunities

The recent financial crisis hasn't been bad for everyone. Although most people are suffering the after-effects of the market crashes, some such as debt collection agencies and loan sharks seem to be having quite good business preying on those who have lost money in the crisis and are looking for other forms of financing. In every situation there are always some who will be making money from others' misfortune.

What is it?

Do you know what mesothelioma is? I've been recently seeing lots of this word all around Google and apparently there are even mesothelioma lawyers in America which specialise in this. It sounds pretty scary and it sounds a little like a disease! If anyone knows what this is, please do tell me! :)

Keeping Warm

I used to study in Australia and one holiday when my sis came to visit, we made a trip to Tasmania. There, I experienced using a heated blanket for the very first time! It was a rather interesting concept and it certainly kept me very nice and warm throughout the cold night. I think most homes now use electrical heating instead.

Annual Vacations

Its year end in the department and lots of my colleagues have started planning their annual year end holidays or looking for ways to clear their leave balances. One lucky colleague has decided to make a trip to Las Vegas and was frantically researching any hotel in las vegas before she left as she wanted to do online bookings. I hope she managed to find a great hotel that is close to the attractions she wanted to see!

Bed Sales

Recently, I have been noticing lots of great deals on mattresses and bed frames in the newspapers. Some outlets are offering even up to 90% discounts on their bedframes if you purchase a mattress from them! I'm not sure if this is a result of the recent economic crisis or whether these stores are just trying to sell their old stock. However, it is something that benefits consumers greatly especially if you are looking for beds!

Losing Pregnancy Weight

Nowadays, women have tremendous pressure to remain thin. My colleague who recently gave birth about 6 months ago is now carefully watching her diet to ensure she can get back into her previous clothes. Another friend of mine even went to a slimming centre to lose all her pregnancy weight! As long as they do not resort to dangerous slimming drugs such as Decaslim, it should be alright.

MLM Products

I was recently approached by a Multi level Marketer who was pushing a detox product called Orovo detox. Although it sounded effective and good for health, I do have some reservations about using products from multi level companies simply because I do not know how safe they are and what ingredients they contain. Sometimes, false information can be quickly used just to convince people to buy the product which is often very much more expensive than something similar on the shelves.

Job Offer

My friend's husband recently got a fantastic job offer with a multinational bank. Apparently his package is really good and she is now contemplating leaving the job force. Perhaps I should check with her if he will be looking for marketing resumes anytime soon! Considering the recent economic downturn, he seems to have gotten himself a great job deal!

Losing Weight

A colleague in my office was recently desperately trying to lose weight for her wedding. She was even willing to use cheap diet pills to help her shed those unwanted pounds. Although it may work quickly, it is not the best way to loose weight as the side effects of these pills are still questionable. I hope she realises that and accepts her body for what it is.

How The Rich Live

I recently attended a friend's wedding and was surprised to know that he was actually the son of a prominent business man in town. He was relatively low profile all throughout Uni and none of us had any idea that he came from such a well-heeled family. Throughout their wedding, they showed some photo montages and his home was amazing! They even had their own home theater seating for a big screen TV! It's amazing to know how the rich live!

Effect of Financial Crisis

The full impact of the worldwide financial crisis is yet to hit but I believe many have started cutting back on expensive purchases such as houses or luxury cars. I recently read the even developers are starting to slow down on their housing projects and some of the worst hit are those developing luxury homes with Grohe fittings and Moen faucets. It is a good time to be prudent and save.
