Summer Movies

I went to the movies that night and it seems like this summer’s releases are full of comic book and cartoon characters. There’s Spiderman, Transformers, Fantastic Four and soon to be released Harry Potter. It’s funny but most of them seem to involve some character’s DNA getting scrambled in some way or another which results in them having super powers to either save the world or to be a real baddie! I guess it appeals to the little boys within every man when they imagine themselves being the hero to save the world! As for me, I still think that Manhattan City is a very dangerous place to live in! If you aren’t getting mugged, you run the risk of being held hostage by some weirdo character with funky powers or being crushed by a giant reptile!

Online Dates

When I was in Uni, chat program such as ICQ were hugely popular amongst the students. With ICQ, you could chat with people from everywhere in the world. I used to try it out for fun and used to chat with someone from UK who happened to be in the same chatroom as I was. It was fun initially until they started asking very personal questions which got me wary and I stopped chatting after a while. However, a friend of mine actually got to know someone rather well over this program and was even half-convinced to meet him until we talked her out of it. The main danger was that with ICQ, there were no pictures, profiles or information on the person you were chatting to so you’ll never know what sort of person they could be or whether they are even telling the truth.

However, times have changed so much now with sites like FriendFinder which are great sites for singles to find partners or for people to meet new like-minded friends. This very user-friendly site allows you to date in a very safe environment. Members can express themselves through their blogs or read other blogs to know more about the person, chat in chatrooms or get together in groups of similar interests. It brings together people in a friendly manner, leaving them to choose for themselves how far they wish the relationship to go. It’s a fantastic site and if I had FriendFinder back then, I wouldn’t have wasted my time on ICQ programs!

It's Friday!

Yippee, yippee! Friday! I always look forward to this day because it marks the start of a weekend! I have a rather boring Friday night at home though as I don't really fancy hitting the roads when everyone else is. I guess since my University days, I've become quite a bit of a hermit, preferring to stay at home over going out. Perhaps then I shouldn't be asking myself why I have hardly any friends to hang out with!

Fleas FAQ

My puppy once had fleas and it was a trying time for both the puppy and us when the poor thing was constantly scratching itself frantically. I couldn’t understand how the poor puppy picked up the dog flea problem when he was a house dog that very rarely went out. Luckily I found a great site with a comprehensive FAQ section on flea problems for dogs and cats. After going through that site, I managed to do treat it speedily with the necessary treatment and to prevent future occurrences. The puppy and we are much happier now so if your pet has fleas, do check out Fleas Control!

Less is Best

It’s hard trying to manage my credit card payments at times, especially when I’ve a high credit card balance that month. However, I’ve always made it my policy to pay off my credit cards fully every time they fall due. I’m paranoid about having bad credit to my name. A friend of mine used to have the bad habit of paying only the minimum amount on her credit cards every month. What she didn’t realize was how fast the interest grew until she got into serious debt. It was so bad that she had to opt for bad credit debt consolidation methods to improve her bad credit standing before any bank would approve her housing loan. Where debt’s concerned, less is definitely best.

Idyllic Holiday

I met a friend for dinner last night and was amazed to see her beautifully tanned. Beaming, she told me that she had just returned from a funfilled holiday in Hawaii. I was really surprised as this friend is not prone to doing things on an impulse. She told me she did it because she was really fed up with work and when she got to know of fantastic accommodation packages under Hawaiian Beach Rentals she just decided to book her ticket on the next flight to Hawaii.

She showed me pictures of the beautiful Kihei homes she stayed at which was just steps away from the sunny beach. I was envious listening to how idyllic her days were, waking up to snorkel in the crystal clear waters and going for luxurious massages only to get up to feast on freshly cooked seafood and tropical fruit. It definitely sounds like a life I could lead or a holiday I could enjoy too! I told her to let me know when she’s planning her next holiday and I’ll tag along!

Hawaii Holiday

I was in Singapore last weekend and J’s little nieces who are big Lilo & Stitch fans insisted that I watch the cartoon with them. After seeing for about the 10th time, I started thinking of how I could make a visit to Hawaii. The scenes of the beautiful island were really tempting, even in cartoon form. What else could be more beautiful than rolling waves on a deep blue sea, white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees? I’ve heard that their food is really good too with seafood fresh from the seas. Ooh, what wouldn’t I give for a great Hawaii Travel holiday right now!

I’m quite broke but curious to see what the island offers, I searched online and found lovely rustic accommodation up for grabs. There are fantastic Maui vacation home rentals catering to travelers of all interests and ages, whether they are seeking a sun-filled day on the beach or a quieter retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life. They actually looked pretty affordable depending on the range of accommodation and grade. Now, maybe it’s just time to save up for my ticket there!

Unique Car Plates

I’ve always been thrilled at the thought of owning a personalized number plate for my car. We’re not allowed to own those here but my lucky friends in the UK get to Buy Personalised Number Plates for their cars! They usually get their plates from Toon Plates which specializes in unique car plates for a reasonable price. In fact, they’ve recently revamped their site and slashed their prices to a rock-bottom deal! I surfed over to their new site out of interest and was thrilled to see how easy it was to navigate around it to select the best combination for my plate. Hmm…with great deals like those and the chance to have a special plate with my name on it, perhaps I should seriously consider their proposal of working there for a while!

Easy Payroll System

When my sis started her own practice, she was using manual methods to track her payroll every month. I used to help her with it and advised her that she should consider getting a payroll software when her practice starts to expand. With a good payroll software, she wouldn’t have to manually calculate the employee’s necessary deductions and the software will automatically post their salaries to their bank accounts every month. It’s a very useful tool indeed especially when you have several salaries to monitor every month!

Lazy to Maintain A Tree?

Get a silk tree!

My parents know our lack of green fingers and inability to keep any form of plants in the house healthy or green. Most plants they brought up have either withered to a crisp or look yellow and mottled due to our neglect. So, when my dad heard of natural looking silk trees available for sale, he didn’t hesitate to buy one. So, now we have a realistic looking silk tree in our house which works well for everyone as it provides some nice greenery without the requisite water and care, except for the occasional wipe! Win-win for all!

Search and Buy

My aunt in New York has been hunting for a reliable dishwasher after her trusty dishwasher broke down. I guess I never understood the need for a dishwasher until I went to visit her once in winter and realized how painful it was washing dishes in the cold weather! When she asked for my help in sourcing for a dishwasher, I went online and found a great site that not gave great reviews on reliable and good Bosch Dishwashers but also provided local search results on where to get it from! This powerful site called Krillion uses its unique Krillion Localization Engine that searches the Web to find actionable local search results for the consumer. This is so much better than search engines that could merely provide information on the product without telling you where you could find them. With Krillion, my aunt was able to read up on the dishwasher, check the prices, grab her keys, hop into her car and drive to the nearest store to buy it! She absolutely loved the convenience of Krillion and was pleased to find that they’ll be rolling out a wider range of household products in addition to their current major appliances category. I’ll look forward to letting the dishwasher do the dishes instead the next time I see her!

Hope for Addicts

Recently I heard over the radio that there’s now hope for civil servants who have once been drug abusers. The government has recently amended the rules to allow them to resume their former jobs and duties once they have successfully completed their drug rehabilitation programme and is certified free from drugs. I think it’s good that they allow this as it at least gives the addicts a life to go back to and the opportunity to continue to earn money to support themselves and their families. At least they will not be branded an addict for life and would be able to once again live a normal life.

Changing Skin Care Products

I’ve been having some dry skin problems recently. My skin ends up flaking which is rather irritating when I use make up. Recently when I went for my regular facial, my beautician asked if I was having trouble with the skin care I was using. She further advised that skin care we’ve been using for a long time may lose its effectiveness as our skin ages and we may need to switch products. She then recommended some skin care products and gave me some samples to try after my facial. After about a week of using them, my skin has improved slightly and is less dry now. I never knew that different skin care needed to be used at different stages of our lives!

Talk it out

Do you know of anyone having problems in their sex lives or relationship? If you do and they’re not really open enough to talk about it to others, do recommend them Lily Kotila, a talk therapy expert in Sex Therapy San Diego. It’s always amazing to see how open Americans are about sex and their problems. There are lots of sex counselors and all kinds of sex therapists available. However, it is best to go with popular ones like Lily Kotila who is fast gaining recognition s a San Diego Sex Therapist from a guest appearance on KUSI San Diego morning news and has been invited back. She even offers therapeutic services for those currently in a gay or lesbian relationship which I think is great as usually these couples are sidelined in a conventional world. We definitely should have something like this here! Who knows, it might just cut down all the sex crimes here!

Medical Cover while Traveling

I’m an avid traveler and used to think that travel insurance that covered flight delays and lost luggage was sufficient. The senior employees in my company used to have access to medical travel insurance as well but it was limited due to the high premium cost. However, I’m so glad that affordable medical travel insurance is now available for ordinary travelers from Covermytravels.co.uk. It’s an insurance that provides excellent coverage for various medical conditions during your travels for those up to 79 years on Single Trip travel insurance policies which is great as the older the traveler is, the higher risk he or she may have to his or her health. They have a dedicated 24 hours medical emergency service, ready to take you from anywhere you are in the world to the nearest best medical facilities. I was amazed too at their coverage of hazardous activities which included scuba diving which most insurance policies do not cover due to the risks involved. It’s a fantastic policy and I would definitely not hesitate in getting one for myself and my family. At least now, we can travel with peace of mind that we will still be protected even in medical emergencies.

Funky Ringtones

A friend of mine followed her husband to Brasil for work and she was happy to see that the mobile phone technology there was just as good as it was here, which meant she had no trouble keeping in touch with her family and friends here. What she was amazed by, though, was their wide variety of ringtones available. She loved how the toques (Ringtones) in Brasil were so much funkier and more up to date.

She told me that there was rather fierce competition between their cellular (cell phone) providers which comprised of 4 main providers – Vivo, Oi, Tim and Dada.net. In a country where the people love music, singing and dancing, one of the competitive strategies the cellular companies use is their ring tones. So far, she says she loves the ringtones from Dada.net best as it’s really nice. An avid football fan, she loves their other features such as screensavers and wallpapers where she can download her favourite Brasil football stars! She gets all her favourite ringtones off the net from Dada.net Toques - VIVO Tim Oi. Well, at least she’s one happy camper there!

Invest in Gold

I’ve recently been working on precious metals investments for my company and through my work, I’ve realized that there is no better time than now to invest in precious metals, especially gold. Gold is a fast depleting reserve and gold investing is one of the smartest investments now as the prices have been constantly going through the roof. There’s no point in keeping your cash in deposit accounts which pay a measly interest when you can make your money work so much harder by investing in precious metals. One reliable and secure company that has had a fantastic track record in gold investing is Monex Deposit Company where you can purchase your gold bullions or coins and store it with them at a safe and convenient storage. So do make your money work for you!

Quality Furniture

I’ve recently been caught by a home deco bug and have been looking for ideal furniture for my future home. A good friend who recently furnished her house recommended that I try Furniture From Home. It’s a nice, user-friendly and extensive website with furniture that caters to all your needs, from high quality Bedroom furniture sets to Home Office Furniture sets. Designs that caught my eye were the sectionals sofa set that would fit perfectly into corners of the living room to provide a nice, cosy point to watch TV from. I was also particularly interested in the recliner sectional sets which allow you to recline partly by pulling a lever. I could definitely see myself falling asleep in those chairs!

The furniture all come in high-quality finishes, from leather to fabric, depending on your preference. The leather and fabric used is high-quality and easy to clean which makes it perfect for even homes with little children. Their bedroom sets are made with solid wood, polished to a high shine in very elegant designs.

It's the perfect solution for young couples looking to furnish their homes, or people who are thinking of changing their present furniture sets. I’ll definitely keep Furniture From Home in mind when it’s time for me to furnish my home too!

Across the Causeway

I just got back from a brief and tiring trip to Singapore by bus. Do I have any travel tips? Lots! Always make sure you carry and wear something warm when traveling by the midnight bus because it's freezing! It's terribly, terribly cold and the driver drives at top speed. Worse, on this trp down, someone's feet were smelling worse than blue cheese! Thank goodness the human nose adjusts quickly! :P What a journey though! Not one I'll forget quickly!

Full Speed Ahead!

Recently our office server and bandwidth has been slowing down. It drives us all mad as we use lots of important applications such as Oracle and VOIP to keep in touch with our overseas contacts. It got so bad that at one stage, important information and emails were being delayed or not received at all. Luckily a colleague of mine is really tech-savvy and he did some research and recommended that we get a packetshaper application, Packeteer, installed. Packetshapers are used to monitor and analyze network traffic and highlight the applications that are in use on the network, when and by whom. The IT department can then track down sources of dropped-packets and delay. Packeteer also allows us to allocate bandwidth to our important applications and we can guarantee bandwidth for business applications like VOIP or Citrix and limit pest or recreational traffic. After we installed it, our computers have been running like clockwork on fast speeds again. Thank goodness!

Store Your Wines Properly

My friend, J, travels a lot for his work and since wine is so cheap in Europe, he never fails to return with a bottle from each trip. He once told me that he was building his wine collection, especially since certain brands and flavours couldn’t be found here. However, since wine bottles have to be stored tilted downwards to keep their corks constantly moist to avoid evaporation of flavour and dry cork, he has some trouble storing his many bottles and have started running out of space in his fridge.

So when I saw a site specializing in Wine Racks, I couldn’t wait to forward it on to him. The Vine Store has wine racks in all shapes and sizes at reasonable prices for any number of bottles from your wine collection. I saw a beautiful one which can hold up to 23 bottles! Perfect for a serious wine collector! I was also really attracted by a cute little iron-wrought bottle bunch which holds the wine bottles in quirky little corkscrew type holders. J was a little worried about space constraints but there are hanging and vertical racks that provides answers to his limited space too! The site has nice glasses, coolers and lots of other funky accessories too for every wine-lover!

Their online site has great discounts if you buy online so if you’re a big wine fan, do check out The Vine Store! J’s very happy that he did!

Counting Calories

I used to be terribly fastidious about my diet when I was in University and would watch every morsel I eat. I guess it was because the food, especially desserts, was terribly good and rich which made it so easy to over-indulge in! I was shocked once when I flipped through a magazine and saw a Calorie Calculator which listed all my favourite foods. They were so unhealthy! Since then, I've always tried to use a Calorie Calculator to help me estimate the calories I'm consuming. It's actually a healthy way to keep your diet in check as this press release shows:

Calorie calculators are an easy way help you determine how much food you can eat when you want to manage your weight. The calorie calculator at www.magnetic-diet.com is one of the most accurate on the internet. The Magnetic Diet is an amazing new book by diet and meditation guru Nick Smith. In it he describes an original nutritional concept that he calls Food Magnetism. Smith says that food magnetism is the way and the means by which we can lose weight and achieve an incredible level of health and well being. The Magnetic Diet details techniques to overcome cravings through special breathing exercises and a unique approach to improving muscle tone that does not require a gym membership. Smith also shares a simple meditation practice that anyone can do and in his words "has the potential beyond anything else you could ever do, to bring an unimaginable and everlasting joy to your life." Smith has done what few authors would ever think to do, he has made the book available on-line completely free of charge. He says it is more important for people especially young people to have access to this knowledge than it is for him to make a profit. You can of course order the book from his website and read it in comfort on your couch as opposed to page by page sitting at the computer.

Travel Safe

Travel is one of my favourite hobbies and I really look forward to planning my holidays and trips. One thing I’ve learnt about traveling is the importance of getting Travel Insurance. I used to pooh-pooh the idea of travel insurance thinking mishaps would never happen if I travel to safe, developed countries until I lost my entire luggage during a trip. It was, needless to say, not only an expensive trip having to repurchase clothes and essentials but also a big hassle and I didn’t get to enjoy my trip after that. Since that incident, I’ve always made sure I buy travel insurance before I travel. It doesn’t cost too much and I’ve learnt that it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Package of Surprises

When my brother graduated from the UK, we all took a trip there to help him pack up his stuff to bring home again. As we were worried about the lack and cost of packaging material there, we actually carried our own flattened boxes and tape from home. We were hoping that this will save us the hassle of running around London looking for boxes rejected by big stores or having to buy bubble wrap, stretchwrap and tape. Recently, however, I found a great packaging site called The Packing Station which carries every kind of packaging material you’ll need either for your business or your personal needs, all at a reasonable price. You packaging needs are all answered here with their wide range of packaging material available from corrugated paper, all kinds of mailing envelopes, removal boxes to special arts and crafts paper and bags. So whether you’re trying to organise a party, prepare gift hampers, move house or need special mailing material for your business, do drop by The Packing Station to have all your needs answered!

City of the Little Mermaid

My family and I are planning a trip to the UK next year. Woohoo! But this time, instead of just going around the UK, we have decided to branch out into Europe. As we have all been to Paris and Brussels, we thought we might pay a visit to the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. Sis knows some people from there so we might try and see if they know of any Cheap Hotels in Copenhagen that we can stay in. We've heard so much about the little brass mermaid and despite what everyone says about how small it is and how it's not worth it to go all the way there just to see a little bronze figurine, we're fans of Hans Christian Anderson and wouldn't miss it for the world! So cheap hotels will come in very useful. After all, the cost of living there is so high, any savings will be great. I can't wait!

Office Politics

They say you can never run away from it but it's just sad we have to keep putting up with it. There seems to be something brewing in the office, I can just feel it in my bones. I guess it'll only be a matter of time before something explodes and then it'll be a nightmare when it does! Will I hang around to hear the music? Probably not!

To Study or Not

My cousin recently went to the US for his undergraduate degree and to join his brother who was pursuing his professional law degree in Harvard. I had been considering pursuing my post-graduate degree for some time already and was curious to know how they managed to get so much information on US degrees and professional certificates. Their answer was DirectoryofSchools.com, a great online schools portal which is chockful of information on over 1,355 schools in the US ranging from online degrees to professional certificate programs. Through this site, you merely need to look for the school or course you want and all available information is easily obtained from the comfort of your home, without having the hassle of making expensive international calls! Maybe I should consider joining them too!

Online Coupons

Shopping, shopping, shopping…it’s every woman’s dream. In fact, I’m planning a trip down to Singapore this weekend to check what’s on offer at the Great Singapore Sale. I’ve been hearing and reading so much about it, I can’t wait to go anymore! However, during normal non-sale times, I do enjoy surfing online stores to see what they have on offer. Sometimes they have things at much cheaper prices compared to what I get in the physical stores. Some of my favourite shopping sites are books.

We recently bought a new bookshelf to accommodate all our books and since there’s still so much space to spare, I surfed online to see what other new releases there were. And in the midst of my surfing, I discovered a great site called Keep Cash which offers discount coupons for a myriad of stores, ranging from famous brands such as Banana Republic to the less common brands. I was thrilled to see that they had coupons for an interesting site called Booksamillion, which specializes in the sale of all kinds of books, almost every type you want! This is really great for me as books cost the earth here. A normal paperback here can cost up to RM60 (US$17) while I found books I’ve been looking for a lot less with Booksamillion coupons. Plus, I end up saving more when I use the Keep Cash coupons!

What a great deal! I love it when my book parcel arrives, especially when I’ve forgotten about it. It’s like Christmas and presents all over again, opening the box to discover titles just waiting to be read and savoured. I’m off to fill up my new bookshelf with more titles and to look for great birthday presents for my friends’ children. They have a gorgeous range of children books that make me wish I was a child again! So if you’re looking for discounts on top of your already great online deals, do go to Keep Cash and you’ll definitely find something to buy!

Off to Singapore

So I'm finally off to Singapore...not for the Great Singapore Sale yet! That'll have to wait till early July when my shopping buddy is available! I can't wait but this trip is a more important trip which needs to be made so I can shop to my heart's content on my next trip!

Will be leaving on the midnight bus tonight and be back on Sunday evening. It's a very short trip considering that traveling there already takes 10 hours to and fro! Oh well...don't miss me while I'm gone!

Moving Across Countries

When we moved houses recently, I realized what a stressful thing moving can be. I really admire my relatives when they moved countries down to New Zealand. If coordinating moving between housing areas can be so difficult already, what more international moving! Luckily for them, they had very reliable International Movers selected from Service Network who were highly professional and trustworthy. They even included packing as part of the deal and did a wonderful job in packing up my aunt’s fragile crystalware and delicate crockery. Since only licensed and insured movers are allowed into Service Network’s high quality network, my relatives had no worries about losing their possessions or receiving damaged possessions when it was transported. They even gave up to 65% pre-negotiated moving discounts which saved them a hefty amount. So, if you’re looking for International Movers, start with Service Network!

My Music Playlist

I have to confess that I actually like Paris Hilton's "Stars are Blind". It's such a catchy, boppy song I can't help but like it although people say it's fluffy! So I was pleased to find a free music site where I could download her playlist on my computer! Yep, a Paris Hilton playlist just like the one below!

Missed Yoga

I missed yoga last night due to my late night at work. I feel bad not sweating it out like I should instead of sitting down to a late hearty dinner. Worse we've paid for 10 classes so I'm not sure how my missed classes would work out. I have to really make it next week otherwise it'll not be good for both my health and pocket. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother staying back when there's so much crap happening here at times.

Just got to be insistent and leave when I have to, I guess. Priorities...

New Music Site

A friend in the UK actually left his high-paying job to pursue his interest in setting up his own band. Recently I got in touch with him again and found out that he was actually doing really well, thanks to tourdates.Co.UK, an unsigned chart with free music downloads. It’s a new music website that aims to provide exposure for new unsigned bands and provides free downloads of their music for those who are interested. It has encouraged many young, budding musicians to pursue what they love best and has revolutionized the music scene by giving these new bands an avenue to be heard. .He sent me a press release of the site listed below:

tourdates.Co.UK, Britains fastest growing new music website, has launched a chart for unsigned bands.

The site allows new bands to upload promotional tracks, announce gig dates and create profiles to promote themselves alongside major artists such as the Artic Monkeys and The Twang.

Tourdates Jarrod Robinson says, there are some fantastic unsigned bands in the UK and we wanted them to know how much our community likes their music, an unsigned chart seemed the perfect answer.

Chart results are announced on the site at 19:00 every sunday, the sametime as the No1 single of the week is announced on BBC's radio 1.

It was very impressive to read about what these sites are doing for these young and upcoming musicians. It’ll be good it we had something similar here.

Yoga Night Again

Yippee! It's yoga night again today! I do enjoy my yoga classes. I find that it helps me relax and helps get rid of any headaches I have from the day. Even when I'm really tired before the class, I find that I finish it feeling more energized and sleep a lot better that night. The instructor mentioned last week that she was going to start teaching us head stands! How interesting! Can't wait for this evening!

Tired Out

It's been a long, grueling week and I haven't had much sleep. Every morning it's a torture to wake up and since the parents have gone home, there's so much in the house that has to be done which I've got no more energy to do. I saw the clothes hamper overflowing with clothes before I left the house this morning but don't have the time to do them. Will probably have to do it after yoga tonight.

I wonder how career moms cope?!

Buy Used Cars Here

Recently a lot of my friends in the accounting sector have been migrating to the UK to look for work there. One of them who recently left emailed me the other day, encouraging me to consider opportunities there. When I told her I was concerned about the cost of living and would miss driving my little car here, she laughed and told me that I could buy good quality Used Cars there for so much less since they don’t have astronomical sales taxes there.

In fact, she had just recently bought a nice zippy little Audi for a steal from BuyYourCar. She got it at less than £25,000 which is really cheap! She told me that with great sites such as BuyYourCar that target online advertising, you never have to buy expensive cars again. They have a huge range of beautiful used cars in various conditions from stately Jaguars to funky Beemers, brand new cars or if you’re there for a short term visit, cars for contract hire or leasing. They truly believe in reaching out to customers through online marketing and try to provide a high quality and useful site for their users which takes away the customer’s need to drive for miles just to view suitable cars. You can search according to the dream model you want or if you’re more constrained, search within your budget and according to my friend you’ll never be disappointed with what you find.

What she said was very tempting indeed and it’s definitely food for thought. Perhaps, through BuyYourCar, I can afford my dream Lexus in a much shorter time!

Motorbikes Drive Me Nuts

Sometimes I wish this country would create motorbike lanes on every road for the terrible motorcyclists. It's torture driving with them around as they simply weave in and out of cars or choose to ride just in front of your car and if you're stuck in a lane with cars on either side of you, you can't even overtake them! The way some of them ride is as if they have a death wish as they cut suddenly right in front of speeding cars without a thought. Worse is when you're waiting at a red light, surrounded by motorcyclists which only means that you can't move although the light has turned green until they have. If there's any accident caused by them, you're likely to end up in the blame since considering the minimal protection they have, their likelihood of injuries are a lot higher than the car driver! Grr...if I were the Transport Minister, I'll probably ban them all!

Free from Drug Abuse

Is there someone in your life suffering from drug abuse? Drug abuse is one of the worst forms of addiction as the victim often finds himself on a downward spiral into a dark abyss of which it is almost impossible to come out from without drug rehabilitation. Despite what some may tell you, it is almost impossible to beat drug abuse without help from a Drug Rehabilitation centre.

For addicts, enrolling into drug rehab is one of the hardest things to do, yet one of the most crucial because although they may see it as admitting to a weakness, it is the first step towards a clean life that’s free from drugs. Going into rehab is never something easy as it will mean having to fight with the demons within you everytime the addiction strikes but remember that as long as the addict has the fighting spirit and willpower within him or her to beat this, they will succeed. All it takes is a commitment to the rehab treatment and a lot of internal willpower and external support. The drug rehabilitation process will restore their dignity and bring back the joy of living for these addicts. With the pledge to fight their own addiction, the drub rehabilitation will be a successful one in bringing them back to their old lives.

Korean-Japanese Dinner

I had a great dinner in sis' place yesterday. She had bought a bag of pajeon (Korean pancakes) pre-mix to try. So we chopped up some prawns, spring onions, carrots and onions to be mixed into it. The first two turned out too sticky as there wasn't enough water in the pre-mix or oil in the pan. So we remedied it as we went along and amazingly, ended up with beautiful pajeon just like the way the Korean restaurants do it! Mixed up a dipping sauce from soy sauce and rice vinegar with a sprinkle of chilli flakes and we were sitting down to a Korean pancake dinner in no time at all! At less than a quarter of the cost too! It turns out that Koreans themselves use this pre-mix so I guess we can't be that far off!

Insure your Pet

Quite a number of my friends own pets and I’m always amazed to see how much it can cost to keep a pet. There’s all the feed that you’ll need to buy plus additional veterinarian fees when your poor pooch falls ill. A friend’s dog was diagnosed with cataract problems recently and she forked out the thousands that will cost for the operation, simply out of love for her dog. She would have saved that money if she had gotten pet insurance.

Like humans, pets too are experiencing a rise in health problems, perhaps due to their owners who spoil them with rich treats. Therefore, it only makes sense for the owners to buy pet insurance for their darlings. Veterinary costs are rising tremendously and it has been proven that two out of three pets will experience significant health problems during their lifetime. With pet insurance, it’ll take the financial worry out of your pet’s illness and you will be able to concentrate on doing what’s best for your sick pet.

Priorities

It isn't easy juggling a few blogs and trying to think of what to write. Plus of course, work! It's nice to see where my priorities lie! :p Luckily the parents have given us a firm and good foundation in language and writing skills which we enjoy doing so doing sponsored posts sometimes isn't really "work". Rather it's the ability to crap on and on, just like this! Heh!

I Spy

I’m a big fan of spy movies. I remember watching this interesting programme when I was little about at spy named Flint. Later I progressed on to the hunky dory James Bond movies with his amazing gadgets! I used to read the comic about the little white and black spies in MAD magazine? It never ceased to amaze me how all these spies came up with such highly imaginative ways to conceal their identity whilst carrying out their mission.

So when I was asked to write about how I would conceal my identity while carrying a mission, naturally, my head was brimming with ideas! Being female, it’s somewhat easier as you can always pass off for a glamorous heiress, a beautiful socialite or since I’m Asian, a little maid! The hotel maid is probably the best disguise as it’ll give me access to my enemies’ rooms and the freedom to snoop around without their knowing! That way, I’ll have access to all their secrets. After all, most people leave their inhibitions out of the door the minute they enter their rooms!

However if you would like to see a real spy in action, do not miss USA Network's Burn Notice which will premiere on June 28th. It stars a dashing CIA agent who needs to assume all kinds of identities to fulfill his mission! Will he fail or will he succeed? Don’t forget to tune into USA Network’s Burn Notice to find out more!

Not Enough

My oats that dad makes me for breakfast nowadays doesn't fill me up anymore. This is really odd because when I first started eating them, it'll last me all the way to lunch and sometimes even past lunch! But now I start getting the munchies around 10am which isn't good because I'll start looking for snacks and the snacks available around here are hardly healthy. Wonder if my appetite has increased. If it has, this is terrible news! Must diet!

iGames

I recently went over to a friend’s house and I was very impressed to see her beautiful white Mac on her table. I’ve always wanted to mess with a Mac but haven’t yet been able to afford my own Mac. I’m a big fan of computer games so naturally when she allowed me to play with her Mac, one of the first things I headed to was her games section and I was disappointed to see that she had hardly any games installed on her Mac!

I immediately logged on to the internet to surf for Mac games to show her what she had been missing out on and I found a fantastic site offering free and paid games and software specially for Mac! Mac Games and More has a fantastic range of mac games available for all ages and interests, from Sudoku and Solitaire for adults to fun kids games like Nathan’s Trains. All it takes is a simple click to download your favourite games! I downloaded a few to test them out and was very pleased with the quality of their games. The graphics were beautiful and the game challenging enough for all ages.

My friend was very happy with the games as she has always been a big Sudoku fanShe was also pleased to find some educational children mac games to teach her son in a fun and interactive way. So if you have a swanky Mac, do check out Mac Games and More!

Small Business Systems

My cousin runs her own small business selling innovative and creative gifts for newborns and little children. She loves working on her own business as she says it gives her time to spend with her family plus she doesn’t need to answer to any mean boss’ whims and fancies. However, it wasn’t that easy initially when she was trying to set up her business systems and controls to ensure that her business could run efficiently. She used to call me often to ask for ideas or suggestions on how she should structure her systems and what controls she should put in. I advised her to try Forturo which specializes in Small Business Management Systems.

Their software is an easy to install and easy to use software which tracks the entire business process lifecycle through 7 modules. It helps to manage customer contacts, to quotes, ordering, inventory management, time management and invoicing. I gave it a trial run before she installed it and I was truly impressed by the quality software which got me all the information I wanted in the minimum number of clicks. It was really easy to use and I’m sure her staff will be able to use it in no time at all, with minimum training. Their strong user friendly interface and comprehensive help directory minimizes the need for training as staff can learn easily on the job. What I found very useful too was the fact that it could be accessed anywhere in the world with its built in remote hosting capability. This was especially important for my cousin as she was considering expanding her business to Singapore.

She’s been using this system for several months already and recently called me to thank me for recommending it to her. Her business management has improved tremendously since which has led to a highly profitable and successful business for her.

Rented my Carpark

I finally managed to rent out my spare car park. Hurrah! It's not a huge lot of money but any extra pocket money is always good. Plus, as it's a car park, I don't need to worry about the maintenance or someone else spoiling it during their usage. It's funny but KL is starting to become like cities all over the world. Even an empty space now can be more valuable than a house in a remote town.

UK Roaming

UK has always been one of my favourite holiday destinations, probably due to the healthy diet of English themed books I was brought up on as a child. So far I’ve only been to London in a few whirlwind trips and that vibrant city has already captured my heart. There’s lots of the UK I’m longing to see so I was thrilled when I found out that our family is planning a big trip to the UK early next year. As there are quite a number of us, we’ve been contemplating renting Motorhomes and RV's so we can travel around the English countryside with ease.

I want to see the beautiful cobbled streets of Bath and the gorgeous historical buildings there. I want to sit by the lakes in the Lake District where the poets penned their famous poems. I aspire to walk in the beautiful streets of Stratford-Upon-Avon and see the thatched cottages where Shakespeare used to live. And how can I miss seeing the famous Oxford and Cambridge towns plus a quite nip north to see my sister’s alma mater in Nottingham. There’s so much of the English countryside I’m looking forward to see, especially after all the stories I’ve read and heard from my family and friends who have stayed or been there before. I can’t wait for our trip and am glad we’ll be able to travel conveniently as a family with our rented Motorhomes!

Insurance for your Child

A friend’s baby is due in only a few more months. I was talking to her recently and she was lamenting the high cost of having a child in these days. Not only do they have to consider diaper and powdered milk cost but also the cost of his education in the future and insurances. She was recently looking at child insurance packages and was shocked to see how expensive some options can be. She told me to think very carefully before I have a child in the future otherwise I’ll have to be prepared to forgo some shopping and fun for myself!

Help with Reading

My aunt in the US used to be quite worried whenever her children had trouble reading. Like all Asian parents, she only wanted them to succeed in their schoolwork. The last time she came back for a holiday, I noticed her children had no trouble reading at all, even big words in the newspaper or books beyond their age. It turned out that she had Reading Tutors for her children during their school holidays through the Score Learning Centre. They have experienced and professional tutors who help the children improve their reading skills in a fun and exciting learning environment. What a great program!

Great Singapore Sale

The Great Singapore Sale is starting! I've been seeing advertisements and hearing blurbs about it over the radio and on other blogs. I'm really keen on going this year as I've never been for it. Am hoping some things I'm eyeing will be on a discounted price good enough for me to consider! Unfortunately, I haven't found a shopping buddy yet. Anyone?

Tutor Needed

A friend’s son was being home-schooled as he had some trouble adjusting to the school system. I was curious to know if he missed having friends and was surprised to hear that he got lots of exposure to similar aged children whenever he attended his Innovative Tutor sessions at the Score Learning Centre. He loves going there as he enjoys the company of the attentive teachers and his mom loves it as she has seen marked improvement in his studies since she sent him there. It’s a great program for school children and parents if they're looking for a tutor to help their children during the summer holidays or after school.

Bulk Up!

Are you a gym bunny? I used to be pretty hardworking at the gym a few years ago. I guess there was just something about the adrenaline rush you get from working out that kept me going back there again and again! Not to mention the cute guys with the beautifully buffed bods! I tend to prefer looking at guys who are not overly bulked up. My gym buddy at that time, however, loved watching the body builder type of guys as they grunted their way through their weights sessions. She particularly liked one guy whom we noticed bulked up within a very short period. Curious, we asked him how he did it and his secret was body building supplements! So that was how he did it! I guess no amount of weight training and muscle building could achieve that bod in so short a time! Recently, I bumped into my gym buddy again and was surprised to see her buff and toned! It turns out that she too has been taking small doses of the supplements to help her bulk up and to get more results from her weight training sessions. I must say, she’s looking very fit now!

Mediterranean Living

Work’s been a pain recently and all I can wish for is an early retirement. That got me thinking recently about where I’d like to retire and I think top of my picks would probably be in the Mediterranean. It’s beautiful, warm and sunny and the food there is simply wonderful. I know I’m a long way from retirement but that didn’t stop me from checking out North Cyprus Property that’s available for sale. North Cyprus is one of the last regions of the Mediterranean that has been left relatively under-developed and still retains it’s slow pace of life and beautiful charm. With properties ranging from between £30,000 to £100,000, I just have to invest more wisely so I can live out my retirement plan!

Naughty Presents

I do miss my University days every so often. I spent three years in Australia during my undergraduate study and I remember how much fun we used to have as students, constantly surrounded by friends from everywhere in the world. I used to have a close bunch of friends, both Australian and international and I recall how for one of their birthdays, we all chipped in to buy him a pack of sexy Calvin Klein mens underwear from Dugg. We were terribly tempted to get him a pretty pair of pink CK briefs with pink stars on it but we decided to be kind to him after all!

We used to give hilarious gifts like that just to torture our male friends. For another friend, we were very close to buying him a sexy G-string but after much laughter, we finally decided on a staid, sober pair of boxers with a nice tight-fitting singlet to go with it! Needless to say, he loved it and wore it to bed almost every night! Ah, those were the carefree good ol’ days! Sometimes I do wish I could relive them!

Math Help

A good friend just relocated to the US with her husband and daughter. Her daughter was schooling locally here and had some trouble adjusting to their education system in the US. It was definitely a big adjustment as she was used to rigid exam-oriented systems here while the US-based system is a lot more flexible. Luckily, my friend found Score Learning centers that offer great tutors, especially Math Tutors, to help her daughter adjust. When I last spoke to her a week ago, she confided that she was very happy at how well her daughter was doing in school now with the help and tutoring that she had been getting. She definitely enjoys school a lot more than she did here!

Opportunites

Payperpost has been dropping their opportunities for bloggers on blogspot now. When I log in most of the time, all I see are grey or red telling me that most of the opportunities have been taken. It's sad to see that because sometimes I've stayed up after a long day just to try to grab some opportunities. Sometimes I get lucky and manage to grab some but I think they're only releasing very few opportunities as it'll be lost if my page loads slowly. I do wish they'll put up more for bloggers on blogspot.

Summer Holidays

Summer holidays are just a few months to go and soon your little children will be out of school, free as a bird! If you're a parent who hates to see your child spending their summer doing nothing and wasting their time away, why not consider sending them for Summer Camps? Score Learning centres provide additional classes for children from ages 4 to 14 in all kinds of subjects. It's a new innovative program that'll keep your child entertained and occupied for hours while learning in leaps and bounds. So if your child had trouble with Math, English or any subject in school, do take the opportunity of the summer holidays to help them build a better foundation for the coming school term.

Furnishing My New Home

When we bought our new house, I realized that buying a new house is just the beginning. There’s a lot more work and money that needs to be put in for renovation and furnishings. A contractor friend once told me that a safe budget to work with for furnishings are approximately 10% to 15% of the house cost. Trying to work within that budget, I had to work extra hard to find the best deals for the quality furnishings I wanted in my house. One site which I had great help from was Farreys. They have everything you need for your new home from fans to ventilation equipment from various merchants at very competitive prices.

They even had designer bathroom accessories from famous designers such as Hansgrohe and lights from George Kovacs. I was very happy to see the designer accessories and lights at such a great price as it meant I could finally have my dream fittings and furnishings! For those who are looking for something cheaper, they even have a special offers section which changes frequently so do check often to see what great deals they offer. It was very easy to purchase things from their site as they run a fast shipping service combined with their safe shopping promise so you never have to worry about using your credit card with Farreys. I also got great volume discounts when I purchased my fittings from them and what I liked best was their 30-day return policy if there were problems with the fittings.

I’m well on my way to outfitting my dream home and I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it within my budget if not for Farreys. So if you’re looking for designer and modern fittings at great prices, check out Farreys today!

Help and Hope

Drug addiction today is scary because people are getting addicted not only to hard-core drugs such as marijuana or cocaine but they are starting to get addicted to day to day drugs such as normal prescription drugs. In fact, this form of drug addiction is commonly found in the young crowd and those who have some form of illness and start becoming reliant on the drug. If you have someone who’s having Prescription Drug Addiction without realizing it, don’t despair. There’s always help available everywhere. One of them is the Cliffside Malibu drug rehab centre, a residential rehab centre that helps addicts fight drug and alcohol addiction. It’s treated many people with a high success rate and many of them are cured of their addictions forever. I personally know someone who has undergone treatment there and they’re so happy that they managed to kick the addiction habit. So, if you know of anyone helpless and lost in the dark world of drug addiction, whether prescription, designer or hard-core drugs, do them a favour by encouraging them to go for rehab.

Help your Business Grow

A good friend of mine recently started running her own direct marketing company selling health supplements and baby stuff. She was having some trouble getting it off the ground initially as she wasn’t sure how to reach out to her potential customers. However, when I called her recently, a few months later, she told me that business was slowly but surely trickling in, thanks to a great Lists Company she engaged. The company has a multi-dimensional database built from over 100 demographic and psychographic sections which have been compiled over decades. From their database, they customized mailing, telemarketing and fax lists for my friend’s company for a reasonable fee. She was amazed to find that many of the customers on the lists responded positively to her cold calls and were interested to try her products. Needless to say, she’s very happy with it and the way it’s helping her business.

Learn to Count Calories

I used to be a very fat teenager. I had lots of trouble buying clothes and used to get depressed over my weight. Luckily, I lost most of it when I was studying overseas, partly due to more exercise and also better awareness about food and calories. One of the best tools I had then was this great calorie counter. It was fast and very easy to use. All I had to do was the search or type in the type of food I was eating and it will pull out the nutritional information on that food. This way, I learnt how to avoid high-caloric foods such as desserts, chips and fried foods. I also learnt how to avoid high-carbohydrate foods which can easily lead to weight gain. Best of all, the counter was 100% free which was perfect for students such as me. I’m sad to say that I’ve slid a little with my healthy food choices when I returned home due to the abundance of good food available here. However, I’ve resolved to start using my calorie counter again!

$7 Million for Payperpost

What great news! Our favourite sponsored posts site, Payperpost, has just secured another $7 million financing! What great news! This now brings its total capital to over $10 million which is simply fantastic for a relatively new company in a very new but dynamic industry! I do hope that they use it to continue to upgrade their great website and most importantly provide a lot more opportunities for advertisers and bloggers, especially new bloggers. It has been a great market meeting place for both advertisers and bloggers. I’m sure both parties hope this synergy will continue to bring benefits to both. Advertisers get to advertise their products for a cheaper price while bloggers who practice good blog ethics get to earn some extra income while doing what they like best.

Best of all though, in honor of this great deal, they're releasing special opportunities from $10.77 to $700 between noon today to noon next Tuesday! How great is that! So good luck to all of us!

Do read their Press Release below for more details and do visit the Payperpost Blog to find out more!

The PayPerPost Revolution Accelerates, Sponsored
Blogging Marketplace Secures $7 Million Series B

Draper Fisher Jurvetson leads round and joins Board of Directors

ORLANDO, FL – (June 12, 2007) – PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers and other consumer content creators, today announced it has completed a $7 million second round investment led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, an investor in the company's Series A and one of the world’s leading high-technology venture capital firms. The financing brings the total amount of capital raised by PayPerPost to over $10 million, giving the company considerable resources for further development as the industry’s leading Consumer Generated Advertising marketplace. Additional participants in the round include existing investors Inflexion Partners and Village Ventures as well as new investor DFJ Gotham. With this investment, DFJ Managing Director Josh Stein also joins PayPerPost’s Board of Directors.

“PayPerPost created this exciting new advertising space and has established itself as the industry leader,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “Although we’ve only used a portion of our first round capital, this added support from investors unlocks significant growth potential. Our content creator and advertiser ROI metrics clearly demonstrate the upside for PayPerPost’s model. We intend to use this capital to build the infrastructure, visibility and professional expertise necessary to reach and retain a greater network of advertisers and content creators than ever before.”

Since its founding in June of 2006, PayPerPost has signed more than 6,500 advertisers to its groundbreaking service, which has enabled Consumer Content Creators to be compensated for their efforts discussing specific companies, products or services via blogs, videos or other media. The content creators are required to disclose relationships with advertisers on their blog, providing transparency for the end reader. Over 125,000 Internet postings, most in the form of blogs, have already earned money for their creators through PayPerPost’s innovative marketplace. PayPerPost recently released PayPerPost Direct, a disruptive new service that allows advertisers to contract and negotiate directly with individual bloggers they identify through a safe, managed system.

“PayPerPost has laid a strong foundation for the future,” noted Tim Draper, founder and managing director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. “It continues to attract a critical mass of participants from both the advertising and blogging communities. Analogous to Overture’s sponsored search model, we believe PayPerPost’s business model holds disruptive potential and will enable the company to thrive in the evolving paid-content arena.”

To mark the $7 million dollar funding, PayPerPost has launched a new website detailing the company’s service offering at http://www.payperpost.com. Bloggers and advertisers can easily sign up at the site and begin leveraging the self service marketplace.

Help with Stairs

My grandmother passed away 2 years ago. Before she passed away, she was quite frail and ill from old age. My parents had to borrow a wheelchair for her to get around the house. Luckily, my house is a single storey one without any stairs so her mobility wasn’t really restricted. Another friend of mine has an elderly grandfather staying with them in their double storey house. Mobility used to be a real problem and the grandparent had a lot of trouble going up and down the stairs. Usually either a family member or the maid will have to help the grandfather up and down the stairs as it was dangerous for him to attempt it on his own. They used to worry about his safety and security when they were away at work or out. That was until his father installed stairlifts in their house. It’s a great invention that allows the elderly or handicapped to travel up and down stairs with ease. And it has definitely made life easier, both for my friend’s family and his grandfather.

Pretty Dolls to Colour

I recently had to baby-sit my friend’s nieces, two darling little girls of around 5 and 3. They were really active children, running up and down and all around! And I hadn’t even fed them any sugar yet! Luckily after doing lots of running and gymnastics outside in the lawn, they started to tire out a bit and innovative me had to think of some indoor games for them to play with before they start whining. Thank goodness she had the internet with fast broadband connection. Going online, I found a fantastic dolly site with Coloring Pages just for girls to enjoy! Perfect!

It’s a new addition to TheDollPalace.com, a cartoon dolls site with all kinds of great games and fun with dollies. Now, their Coloring Pages allow tech-savvy little girls to select pictures of their choice and fill them in with colors selected from the available palette. They had pictures of all kinds! From manga to warrior princess to sweet little angels! Anything to suit a little girl’s fancy! The older girl was rather tech-savvy so I could leave her coloring on the computer to her heart’s content.

The younger girl, however, was still too young for the computer so I was very happy to see that they also allowed you to upload your own pen and ink picture to color. So I managed to persuade her to do some ink drawings for her elder sister to color on the computer. Needless to say, they both enjoyed it tremendously although the site is meant for teen girls. But with lots of supervision and help, little girls will find just as much fun too!
